Royal Canadian Board of Cosmetic Medicine delivers a focused one-day instructional course in thread lifting techniques. Thread lifts provide a non-surgical method for facial tissue support using absorbable sutures to create a noticeable lift. Aging reduces skin density and soft tissue structure as collagen and elastin decline. Thread lifting is performed in a clinical setting with minimal downtime. Treatment time is usually about 30 minutes and patients can resume daily activity soon after. Training includes both primary types of threads used in aesthetics: PDO threads and PLLA threads. Both rely on similar lifting principles but differ in material properties. PDO is a biocompatible material absorbed naturally by the body. PLLA threads also biodegrade safely and include tiny supportive structures along the thread to maintain tissue hold.
